Shochikubai is a combination of three good luck symbols, bamboo, pine, and plum blossom. These auspicious symbols together are signs of happiness and good fortune.

Opposite side of the hat is red Palaka fabric. This fabric is a quintessential print of old Hawaii. Sugar cane laborers wore this fabric as it was very affordable for the time.
